The 5'6" Webb began playing golf at the age of 8 and is Australia's most successful female golfer, and one of the top players in the history of global women's golf. She currently plays on the U.S.-based LPGA tour.

Webb grew up in Ayr in Queensland, and still maintains a residence there. She began her professional golfing career in 1994, joining the United States LPGA tour in 1996.

Webb has won seven major championships, including the Women's British Open in 2002, the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2000 and 2006, the du Maurier Classic in 1999, the McDonald's LPGA Championship in 2001, and the U.S. Women's Open in 2000 and 2001. Webb has won all five different women's majors, including the du Maurier Classic, which is no longer a major, completing the career Super Slam. Webb also won the Women's British Open in 1995 and 1997, before it was considered a major by the LPGA, though (much less significantly) it was rated as a major by the Ladies European Tour at that time. Her 2006 Kraft Nabisco win took her into the top ten of the Women's World Golf Rankings for the first time since they were introduced in February 2006.
